Same Day Prescription Requests

At Jubilee Medical Centre, we process a high volume of repeat prescription requests every day. To ensure patient safety, all requests are carefully reviewed by our Clinicians and/or Pharmacy Team before being signed. This process takes time, which is why we advise that prescriptions will be sent to your nominated pharmacy within 48 hours of your request (excluding weekends).

We understand that sometimes you may forget to order your medication. However, to maintain safety and efficiency, same-day prescriptions will only be issued for “time-critical” medications—these are medicines where missing a dose could cause serious harm. Examples include medications for:

  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • COPD
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes – Insulin and medication to treat hypoglycaemic attacks
  • Severe mental health conditions (e.g. Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder)
  • Atrial Fibrillation
  • Ongoing treatment for blood clots – anticoagulants
  • Addison’s disease
  • Anaphylaxis treatment
  • Medication for palliative patients.

It is important to note that not all medications within these categories are considered time-critical.

All other medication requests will be processed within the standard 48-hour timeframe.
